Walking through the front door

Walking through the front door, back in May 2014, was quite a sight. The main bedroom renovations were in full swing, and although I had already started to get rid of some furniture and stuff, the main room was, let's say, very busy:

Once the main bedroom done, I knew I had to get ready to do the renovations in this part of the house. So by the end of February 2015, I was down to the bare essentials, but still had a lot to do yet to be ready for the big day:

So the demolition started on March 3 2015, and by the end of the day, this is what it looked like:

Now there is a new level sub-floor (that alone took 2 men 3 full days!), gyproc on the walls after rewiring the electricity and insulation, new gyproc on the ceiling. A new fireplace instead of the wood stove, new windows and doors, and the stairs to go in the basement are relocated to a much more practical location. Ready to paint by March 18:

So new floor is down, kitchen cuboards and backsplash are in, handrail is being installed, and painting is well on its way, all by April 3, one month to the day after the beginning of demos:

So by April 15, appliances are in, the stairway to the basement is finished. Clean-up still needs to be done, and more furniture should be delivered in a few weeks:

So on May 4 2015, most of it is done. Just waiting for a few rugs to warm up the place, and the whole thing took only 2 months!:
