Friends of the Richelieu. A river. A passion.

"Tout cedit pays est fort uny, remply de forests, vignes & noyers. Aucuns Chrestiens n'estoient encores parvenus jusques en cedit lieu, que nous, qui eusmes assez de peine à monter le riviere à la rame. " Samuel de Champlain

"All this region is very level and full of forests, vines and butternut trees. No Christian has ever visited this land and we had all the misery of the world trying to paddle the river upstream." Samuel de Champlain

First Spring Rain

The first warm spring rain is blessing us with sweet water from the sky.

At last, the bulbs will be able to push aside last year's leaves and the Robins will have worms to pull out. The dust, salt and grime will be rinsed away to become part of the compost of soil.

The last traces of frozen earth will be thawed out, and pretty soon I'll be able to hear the blades of grass push out, so to feed the woodchuck.

The frogs and toads will be heard across the open fields and thickets, and birds will celebrate the good season with their song and their plumage.

Blessed be the first warm spring rain!
